East Of Alanya

The city is expanding rapidly towards the east. The boroughs in that direction have merged with the central town of Alanya. Obaköy,Çamyolu,Mahmutlar and Kargıcak can be named as some of the villages and boroughs an Alanya-Gazipaşa way which have already become an integral part of the city.

Dim Cay ( River )

Dimçayı comes out to be the first stop east of Alanya. Dimçayı brook , 6 km from the center of the town, springs from the skirts of the Tauruses and flows into the Mediterranean 60 km away.

The asphalt road turning left before Dimçayı bridge, runs inwards from alongside Dimçayı. The murmuring waters and the surrounding green foliage are impressive.

The water of the brook is cold not only in winter but in summer as well and is good for a real cool bath in hot summer days.

Leartes

The ruins of the ancient town of Leartes partly stand after 7 km from the junction at Dimçayy and 12 km from the center of the town on the left side , 900 m within the junction. The ruins within the quarter are abondoned to their dismal fate. However the principal part of the ancient town is located 10 km away (22 km from the center of the town) on a craggy hill surrounded by cliffs at 900 m of the Cebelireis mountain. You will certainly need a 4wd jeep to travel the 10 km off road. The ruins in Leartes are thought to remain from the most brilliant times of the town (Roman) between the 1st and the 3rd centuries AD. Through largely perished, Leartes is worth seeing with its churches , baths, cisterns, houses, stadium and theatrer. The frescoes of the church in the south of the stadium are fascinating.

Syedra

The junction to Kargycak village branches off after 10 km from the center of the town. Go on for 500 m further after the fountain along the tarmak road before Kargycak village, proceed along the road turning right. You can go on only if the chassis of your car is high enough. Otherwise we recommend walking. The gravel road leads you to the entrance of the ancient town of Syedra. The ruins seem running down the hill. Coins found in the vicinity reveal that Syedra was once a Roman town which lived its brilliant and powerful period during the 2nd -3rd centuries AD. Traces of Byzantine civilization can also be seen in Syedra.

Since no restoration work and environmental arrangment have been undertaken in Syedra, it will be quite difficult to walk among the thickly grown shurbs and bushes. You should definitely wear trousers instead of shorts.

Ioatepe

On the way to Gazipaşa, at 30 km from Alanya, you will see the ruins of the ancient town of Iotape spread on both sides of the road.

Iotape is a Roman town said to have been named after Iotape, the wife of King Antiochus. A trail 150 m departing from the asphalt road leads you down to the ancient port with a little beach where you can also swim. As you swim among he ruins, you will not be able to keep yourself from the feeling of being pulled back hundreds of years and dream for a while about the way the ancients lived and spent their time in this piece of land.

Dim Cave

Even bigger than the Damlataş cave and the guesses are that it's 1 million years old we have the Dim cave placed in the town Kestel of Alanya. It lies at the south side of the Dim valley. The highness counted from the sea is 232 meters. There are two parts of this cave. The left part is 360 m. and the right part is 50 meters. It's the second big cave in Turkey to be opened for visitors.

The stalagmite and stalactite walls and coverings becomings at both sides of the road will awaken your amazement. The cave with its drop-shaped precious stones is showing off  beauties like the Pamukkale saloon in the west and the mystical lakes in the south at the end of the cave

These are things you have to see the Lukewarm and clear waters of the Mediterraneasea and the cold snowy peaks of the Taurus mountains at the same time is waiting to make its visitors happy with its location, nice air, cafetaria, trip through the rocks, excellent view and it's possibility to live three seasons at ones. May we live without seeing the beauties of nature.
